Experiments designed for secondary pupils by teachers, presented in the form of laminated information sheets to be photocopied.
Based on the young person's physical surroundings, this is enthusiasm in a box!
The Plastics Kit contains 14 experiments about polymerisation, the properties o polymers including special polymers.
The KIT consists of 14 information sheets - experiments, each of them relating to a different subject. With your students, you will use the products contained in this case to understand polymerisation, test the characteristics of common polymers and meet some special polymers.
The demonstrative objects in the Plastics Kit will enable them to see their physical environment differently and, as they work through the experiments, find out about famous scientists.
The following subjects are dealt with in the information sheets - experiments:
Polymerisation
• Plastic sulphur or polymeric sulphur
• Polymerisation of a urea-formaldehyde resin
• Polymerisation of nylon 6-10
• Preparation of polyurethane foam
• Manufacture of "slime"
• Preparation of threads of polyvinyl alcohol.
Properties of polymers (based on common plastics)
• Identification of the polymers
• Usage properties of polymers
• Heat behaviour of polymers
• Expansion of polystyrene.
Special polymers
• Superabsorbent polymers
• Conductive polymers
• Degradable plastics.
